When an internet connection is becoming unusually slow the problem often arises from the computer. The network might be very fast at normal conditions and at a stage it gets unusually slow. You have to check your computer to make sure it is perfectly okay so that you can easily fix the problem causing this and avoid it in the future. A computer, when not in good situation might cause your internet connection to be significantly slow.
Below are a few things you can do to improve you internet speed. You should also note that this is only when your connection is unusually slow and not for internet connections that are generally slow (like a dial up internet connection).
Allow Your Antivirus to Update Regularly
Updating your antivirus regularly is very important to your computer so that it can give you the best it has. When your antivirus is stopped from updating, the files it has to downloadduring an updating process are compiled and when it becomes too out of date it causes a greater reduction in the connection than normal. An outdated antivirus can not protect your system from viruses effectively. When you make it a point of duty to update you antivirusregularly, your antivirus will never slow down you internet connection.
Don’t Turn Off Automatic Update
Automatic updates, the same thing with updating your antivirus applies to updating you system. When your system remains out of date for a long period of time, it compiles the data that is supposed to be downloaded. Your system running out of date might cause some slowdown in the whole operating system, this consequently affects you connection on the long run. Make sure your system updates regularly and there will be better improvements in your browsing speed.
Avoid Loading Media content
Loading of a website depends mainly on the media content it has since it is the only thing which takes a lot of time to load.So to increase your web surfing speed you have to disable the show images option in the browser settings to make the pages load faster.
Only Load a Few Pages
Loading too many pages, especially when you are using a dial up internet, can cause yourinternet connection to be very slow compared to the general speed it offers. A goodbroadband internet connection does not give this kind of problem, but it usually occurs with a dial up connection. What you have to do is close some of the pages you’re open and don’t multitask your internet connection. Have a priority list and only focus on what matters, after which you can then move to the less important ones, and the speed of your internet connection will significantly improve. A great importance of broadband internet is that it offers great speed that can never be overused so by using a good broadband internet your worries over the amount of pages you load would have been solved.
Scan Your Computer for Viruses Regularly
Viruses are parasites to a computer. Viruses, apart from sending your information to the programmer of the virus in an unsolicited way, it also causes great problems to your computer system. A virus can shut down a running application. It can interfere with what you’re doing. It can also load unwanted web pages and it can send your information to a website you probably don’t know about. Also a virus can download unwanted files into your computer drives and make it less functional.
If a virus is capable of this, you will agree with me that it can also slow down your internet connection. For this not to happen to your computer and thereby slowdown your internet connection drastically, you have to scan your computer for viruses frequently.
